korrex #2

farbwerk 2

I’ve tried to use the inking system on my proof press for the first time. I was skeptical wether the surface of the rollers is good enough for inking. They are very used. But it worked, yay. I’ll print the second colour tomorrow and then I’ll show you the whole print. It’s just a test though…

a rainy weekend

korrex lift

It was raining, so I discovered new blogs at the weekend. Check them out! And we finally removed the rolls from my proof press. Yay. Luckily my neighbour has a lift truck.

linocut #01

I don’t have the patience to carve. Normally. But I tried with a simple one and it worked. I glided off just one time: look at the first P. It didn’t took so much time, I carved during a boring movie at the weekend. Then I mounted the lino on 19 mm MDF and shimmed the back with some paper sheets to get type high. I inked by hand and used the Korrex for printing.

new tympan

new tympan
first print

Aha! So gehts besser, wunderbar. Danke nach HH 🙂

Today Helmut from Hamburg came for a visit. Beside interesting stories from the printing scene he did a professional packing on my Adana. And he told me which screws to pull for changing the packing on the proof press. So after he left I was able to change the tympan and get my first print on the Korrex. Yay. Many many thanks!

Korrex #1

korrex detail

The new press is a Korrex proof press, type Stuttgart with a format of 13 3/4 x 17 5/16 inches. That’s probably the tiniest of all Korrex presses out there, but a perfect size for me. Not too complicated, not that big and manually operated. Great. As it seems much dirty I will clean every part of it within the next weeks and slowly will get to know the press better. And I have to figure out how the whole packing thing works with that type of press. The tympan paper is already waiting…
